about

Ritchie’s father emigrated to Canada in the 70s. Like a lot of other haitian nationals, he had to deal with his share of unpleasantness, one of which was racism. Not Alabama-1950s-racism, but still.
If there’s one thing that shouldn’t be, this is it.
We all come from the same peach.

Demo for this track was done in 2010.
Revisited in 2017 when The Poors project became tangible.

lyrics

HOOD

You say you’re better than mine
Think we’d look good on a leash
You used to watch and feel fine
Merely just a few dangling feet
Yeah.
Some say it’s past ancient times
I wonder how can it be
Way too many useless crimes
Is still the way you wanna teach?
Yeah.

IF THE BLIND MAN COULD SEE, YEAH.
AND THE DEAD GIRL COULD BREATHE.
WE WOULD CALL YOUR DECEIT
HOPIN' YOU WOULDN'T AGREE.

Instead of fear & pure vile
Why don’t chu try ‘nother preach
Dig deep down for a smile
Might get a reward for each
Yeah.
We don’t always decide
What we can admit to be
You won’t believe for a while
We all come from the same peach
Yeah.

WHEN THE BLIND MAN WILL SEE, YEAH.
AND THE DEAD GIRL WILL BREATHE
THEY MAY BE BEYOND GRIEF
THINK YOU MIGHT NOT AGREE
